What happened: Minnesota held an offseason Timberwolves tryout that gave a paying participant a chance to go through the process. The event landed in mid-September, with the club already turning toward the 2026-27 season.

Why it matters: The timing matters because Minnesota is already pointing toward its Oct. 21 road opener, putting even side events close to camp season. It also shows the Timberwolves can still draw offseason interest beyond routine workouts and transactions.

What to watch: Watch whether the club revisits the tryout format once training camp gets underway. The next fixed milestone is the Oct. 21 opener.
