What happened: Cam Ward is set to start for the Titans as they host the Jets on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, carried on CBS and Paramount+. The matchup marks the start of Ward's second NFL season after his rookie campaign.

Why it matters: Titans coach Robert Saleh has staked his own job on Ward's future, calling the quarterback "special." How Ward performs in the opener sets an early marker for that bet.

By the numbers: PFF's preseason quarterback grades had Ward ranked 80th at 29.1, well behind Carson Beck's league-leading 91.7.

What to watch: Kickoff is Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+, with NFL+ streaming the game as well.
