What happened: The Twins closed out their series against the Angels with a 4-2 win Sunday, taking two of the three games after dropping the opener 4-3 on Friday. The result marks Minnesota's fifth consecutive series win of the season, a new high for the club.

Why it matters: The streak keeps the Twins (44-43) above .500 and building momentum with the trade deadline approaching, after the club already added arms in Tommy Nance and Woo-Suk Go this month. The Angels (36-50) slide further off the pace, now on a one-game skid.

By the numbers: Twins: 44-43, last five WLLWW, averaging 5.0 runs scored and 5.0 allowed this season. Angels: 36-50, last five LWLWL, averaging 4.5 runs scored and 4.9 allowed. Series: Angels won 4-3 on 7/10, Twins won 5-3 on 7/11, Twins won 4-2 on 7/12.

What to watch: Twins look to carry the series-win streak into their next matchup as the deadline nears.
