What happened: The Twins marked Rod Carew's birthday with a Thursday tribute to the franchise legend. Carew turned 81 on Oct. 1.

Why it matters: The nod ties Minnesota's October messaging to one of the franchise's most enduring figures. Its value is historical and brand-related rather than on-field.

What to watch: Minnesota's next club update is likely to shift back to postseason developments as October play continues.
