What happened: Fred VanVleet threw a lob to Jabari Smith Jr. for the finish. Amen Thompson followed behind for a potential putback.

Why it matters: The sequence showed timing between VanVleet and Smith Jr. on the lob. Thompson trailing the play gave a second option on the same possession.

What to watch: Continued regular-season games will show whether that connection recurs.
