What happened: Kimi Antonelli qualified on pole at Circuit of the Americas. Sunday's race is scheduled for 56 laps, starting at 3 p.m. local time.

Why it matters: Both Red Bull drivers start ahead of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, who qualified fourth and fifth. The front of the grid gives Verstappen and Hadjar an immediate chance to challenge Antonelli.

By the numbers: Antonelli qualified in 1:34.035, Verstappen in 1:34.214 and Hadjar in 1:34.250. Hadjar was 0.036 seconds behind Verstappen.

What to watch: The opening lap will show whether either Red Bull driver can take the lead.
