Ahhhh, that last lap was looking good, Max 😱 It's P4 and P7 for the Bulls in Qualifying. Max will take a one-place grid Via @redbullracing on X

What happened: Max Verstappen qualified fourth for the Mexico City Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez but will drop to fifth on the grid after serving a one-place penalty. Lewis Hamilton edged Mercedes teammate George Russell by 0.009 seconds to take pole position, with Charles Leclerc third. Red Bull teammate Isack Hadjar posted the seventh-fastest time in Q3.

Why it matters: The one-spot drop moves Verstappen to the third row behind rookie Kimi Antonelli, complicating Red Bull's push for the podium. After Verstappen salvaged third in Austin, starting from fifth puts additional pressure on the team's race pace and tire management at altitude.

What to watch: The Mexico City Grand Prix takes place Sunday, with Hamilton leading an all-Mercedes front row into Turn 1.
