What happened: Minnesota made the call Friday, officially removing Jefferson from its Week 4 matchup with Miami after the ankle injury that knocked him out in Tampa Bay. Jefferson had already appeared as out on the club's final injury report, and the designation ends any late-week chance of a return.

Why it matters: The Vikings now have to extend the offensive reshuffle they started after Jefferson exited in Tampa Bay last week. That turns a midweek injury question into a settled part of Minnesota's Sunday game plan.

By the numbers: Three Vikings were ruled out on the final Week 4 injury report: Jefferson, Charles Demmings and Brett Thorson.

What to watch: Minnesota's inactive list will show how it fills Jefferson's snaps before kickoff. The next injury report will indicate whether the ankle issue extends beyond one game.
