What happened: Minnesota placed Yurosek on injured reserve in the corresponding move. Smith's one-year contract pays $12.25 million and can reach $16.25 million.

Why it matters: The deal sends Harrison Smith into his 15th season with Minnesota. The 37-year-old returns after spending the offseason unsigned.

What to watch: Smith's readiness to resume his usual defensive-backfield role bears watching. Yurosek can be designated to return after missing four games.
