What happened: Manager Walt Weiss confirmed Saturday that Chris Sale will pitch in the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Weiss dismissed concerns about exactly when the left-hander will take the mound, noting the opposition cannot win the series in two games.

Why it matters: The decision resolves speculation regarding his Game 2 status after Sale pitched in relief on Thursday. Pushing his start deeper into the postseason ensures the veteran receives additional rest.

By the numbers: Los Angeles went 100-60 this season and enters the matchup on a four-game winning streak.

What to watch: Ray Kerr will start Game 2, setting up Sale to pitch Game 3.
