The Warriors just announced that they will have a Don Nelson band affixed to their jerseys this coming season in tribute Via @TheSteinLine on X

What happened: Golden State announced the uniform memorial Wednesday, 17 days after Nelson died at 86. He led the franchise in two separate head-coaching stints.

Why it matters: Nelson's fast-paced “Nellie Ball” system became central to his Golden State legacy. He retired as the NBA's second-winningest coach and entered the Hall of Fame in 2012.

By the numbers: Nelson coached Golden State for 11 seasons across two stints, reaching the postseason five times.

What to watch: The band will make its on-court debut when Golden State begins its 2026-27 schedule.
