What happened: Brett Siegel reports Golden State lacks a prospect New Orleans views as a long-term core piece. No agreement has been reached, and Murphy remains under contract with the Pelicans.

Why it matters: The 26-year-old wing would add shooting and secondary scoring alongside Stephen Curry. Golden State finished 37-45 and lost in the play-in, increasing pressure to upgrade its roster for 2026-27.

What to watch: Watch whether Golden State adds a third first-round pick or seeks another team to help bridge the asset gap.
