What happened: The Washington Commanders waived running back Kaytron Allen, according to Adam Schefter. Allen was drafted 187th overall by the team in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Penn State.

Why it matters: The release marks a surprisingly quick exit for the recent draft selection. Washington recently fortified its backfield with veteran depth, including the return of Austin Ekeler to the active roster.

What to watch: Allen is now subject to the waiver wire. Other teams have the opportunity to claim his contract.
