What happened: The plate appearance extended the ninth with the tying run alive. It came in October postseason play with William Contreras already sitting on two NLDS homers.

Why it matters: Ninth-inning baserunners carry outsized leverage in October. A late tie bid keeps the series script open entering Game 4 tomorrow night.

By the numbers: Two NLDS homers at Petco Park, including a fourth-inning solo shot that cut the deficit to 2-1.

What to watch: Watch whether the tying run comes home in the ninth and how Game 4 lines up.
