What happened: Williams paid tribute to Alan Jones at the circuit and at its Grove headquarters, a day after his death at 80 was announced. The team had earlier called him a true Williams legend who formed an extraordinary bond with Frank Williams and Patrick Head.

Why it matters: Jones debuted in F1 at the 1975 Spanish Grand Prix with Hesketh and became the 1980 F1 World Champion. The team's own tributes tie him to the Frank Williams and Patrick Head era.

What to watch: Williams has named its 2027 car the FW50, marking the team's 50th anniversary.
