What happened: Grounds crew members spray-painted yard lines without using a stencil or measuring. Athletic director Eric Burns apologized for the lopsided markings and said Winston-Salem State added extra field prep support with new quality checks.

Why it matters: Accurate yard lines underpin game operations and on-field measurements. A public correction with added staffing aims to prevent a repeat on game day.

What to watch: The updated preparation process will face its next test at the upcoming home game.
