What happened: The WNBL highlighted veteran guard Sami Whitcomb’s dominant 2023 performance against the Southside Flyers, where she recorded a 33-point game. The retrospective look comes as Whitcomb prepares to return to Western Australia after signing a multi-year deal with the Perth Lynx for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Why it matters: Sami Whitcomb returns to the Lynx following a standout WNBL25 campaign where she earned league MVP honors and a championship. Her leadership is expected to anchor a Perth squad that finished second in the regular season and reached the Grand Final earlier this year.

By the numbers: 33 points and 60% FG in highlighted 2023 performance; 18.2 PPG career WNBL average.

What to watch: Whitcomb is currently sidelined with the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA following knee surgery but is expected to be fully fit for the WNBL27 season opener later this year.
