What happened: New York starts its offseason positional review with catcher. The question is whether Austin Wells remains the starter or needs a stronger partner behind the plate.

Why it matters: Catcher sets daily workload for the pitching staff and shapes winter roster construction. Settling the starter now determines how New York allocates at-bats and depth elsewhere.

What to watch: Additional positional evaluations will follow through the offseason.
