What happened: A Yahoo Sports MLB insider report links the New York Yankees to trade candidates on the New York Mets ahead of the deadline, with a catcher included among the positions New York could target. The Mets have already moved into sell mode as the deadline approaches, per Wire Report's earlier coverage of the team's roster decisions.

Why it matters: The catcher interest surfaces alongside a broader Yankees mailbag discussion that also weighed a shortstop trade, with Jose Caballero and Anthony Volpe both hitting to a 95 wRC+ this year. Any Mets trade would add to a Yankees roster currently riding a four-game winning streak into the stretch run.

What to watch: Watch for specific names to surface as the trade deadline nears and New York finalizes its targets on the Mets' roster.
