What happened: Boston leads Detroit 60-47 with the game still in progress on opening night. He has 17 points and 3 rebounds to lead all scorers.

Why it matters: Moving into the top eight places him among the league's most durable high-volume shooters as the season opens. Delivering a game-high total in a new uniform gives Boston immediate perimeter production on opening night.

By the numbers: Leader: 17 PTS, 3 REB to pace all scorers. Game state: Boston 60, Detroit 47, in progress.

What to watch: The final tally and the gap to seventh will clarify as Boston closes opening night.
