What happened: Zach Wilson is competing for the backup quarterback job in New Orleans, according to PFF. He went 7-of-12 for 112 yards and a touchdown in the first half of Saturday's preseason game, posting a 117.4 passer rating.

Why it matters: The competition plays out with Tyler Shough already holding the Saints' No. 1 job. A strong preseason showing raises Wilson's odds of locking down the No. 2 spot before final roster cuts.

By the numbers: Wilson: 7-of-12, 112 yards, 1 TD, 117.4 rating in the first half Saturday.

What to watch: New Orleans' remaining preseason snaps will factor into the QB2 decision ahead of roster cuts.
