What happened: Twenty-five years ago, Derek Jeter came from behind to cut off an outfield throw and flip home to retire the runner trying to score. Facing elimination, New York held on to win 1-0.

Why it matters: In an elimination game, a tying run at the plate ends the season. The play endures a quarter-century later as the defining shortstop relay of its era.

What to watch: This year's Championship Series continue with World Series berths at stake.
