The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have activated TE George Kittle from the Active/Physically Unable to Perfor Via @49ers on X

What happened: Kittle practiced in full pads Sunday but did not participate in team drills. The tight end underwent Achilles surgery on Jan. 14, three days after suffering the injury.

Why it matters: Activation makes a potential Week 1 return possible without guaranteeing his availability. San Francisco can now evaluate him in football work before the regular season.

By the numbers: Kittle resumed practice 224 days after the Jan. 11 Achilles injury and 221 days after surgery.

What to watch: His participation in team drills will be the next marker as the 49ers assess his readiness.
