What happened: The San Francisco 49ers activated defensive lineman Mykel Williams from the reserve/physically unable to perform list. The team also signed defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo to the practice squad.

Why it matters: Williams provides a reinforcement for the defensive line, aligning with recent comments from the front office that returning players could serve as trade deadline acquisitions. Okoronkwo stays in the organization for depth after being released from the active roster on Friday.

What to watch: Williams is eligible to make his season debut when the 49ers face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
