What happened: Judge was activated Sept. 8 to open a six-game homestand in the Bronx after an 84-game absence. The blast was his 18th home run of the 2026 season.

Why it matters: That is a meaningful sign for New York's lineup as it works Judge back into everyday at-bats ahead of October. The Yankees have already clinched a postseason spot, so any quick return of his power changes the shape of the middle of the order.

What to watch: The next read is whether Judge's power keeps showing up over the rest of the Bronx homestand. A steady run of extra-base impact would sharpen the Yankees' postseason ramp-up.
