What happened: Edwards congratulated Karl-Anthony Towns on the championship and tied the message to New York's 2026 NBA Finals win. He followed it by saying his own turn is coming soon.

Why it matters: The comment lands with the Knicks entering the 2026-27 offseason as reigning champions. Recent camp deals still leave New York with two vacancies heading into Sept. 28 training camp, keeping the title defense in the middle of offseason conversation.

What to watch: Watch whether Edwards revisits the remark once camps open around the league and whether New York's title defense keeps drawing outside attention. The Knicks' camp is scheduled to begin Sept. 28.
