What happened: Real Madrid interim coach Álvaro Arbeloa told reporters that the club 'always returns,' framing this season's setbacks as a learning moment. He emphasized that the squad must reflect on what went wrong and commit to harder work heading into next season. The comments come amid swirling reports that the club has opened direct contacts with José Mourinho.

Why it matters: Arbeloa's defiant tone matters because Real Madrid are closing a season widely viewed as a disappointment, with Mbappé's availability still uncertain and the manager's chair under scrutiny. His insistence on accountability lands as he has already publicly questioned the squad's effort earlier this month, signaling internal tension. The Mourinho contact reports add pressure to every public message from the current staff.

What to watch: Watch for the club's official stance on the managerial search and whether Mbappé returns before season's end. Arbeloa's next press availability and any Mourinho-camp response are the key follow-ups.
