What happened: Real Madrid manager Álvaro Arbeloa addressed remarks attributed to him about squad depth, saying "I wish I had four attackers... I don't have four attackers, and I didn't say anything like that to Mbappé." Arbeloa added that the striker "probably didn't understand me," per Fabrizio Romano. The comments follow Mbappé's earlier jab that he doesn't watch Arbeloa's press conferences.

Why it matters: The exchange escalates a public back-and-forth between Real Madrid's coach and its marquee signing, raising questions about dressing-room alignment heading into the offseason. Prior Arbeloa comments backing Mbappé's commitment framed a unified front; today's denial reopens the friction narrative. With José Mourinho contacts reportedly underway, every coach-player rift adds weight to the managerial question.

What to watch: Watch for Mbappé's next media availability and whether Real Madrid's hierarchy intervenes to cool the exchange. Mourinho-to-Madrid reporting will sharpen if the Arbeloa-Mbappé back-and-forth continues.
