What happened: The save completed a four-game sweep in Baltimore. Chapman reached the milestone during his 17th major-league season.

Why it matters: The milestone extends a résumé that includes nine All-Star selections and the major-league record for relief strikeouts. He ranks third among active pitchers in career saves.

By the numbers: Chapman’s 400 saves over 17 seasons average 23.5 per season. He is 22 saves shy of tying the 422 total in eighth place.

What to watch: The remaining regular-season schedule will determine how much of that gap he carries into 2027.
