What happened: Aston Villa have signed 20-year-old Norwegian midfielder Kamilla Melgård from Liga F side Madrid CFF. Melgård came through Lyn Fotball Damer, making her senior debut at 15 and going on to record more than 60 Toppserien appearances before her 2024 move to Spain. She is comfortable across midfield and attacking areas, having contributed four goals and seven assists in her debut Liga F campaign.

Why it matters: The deal continues Villa's push to stock their WSL squad with young, high-ceiling talent capable of growing into first-team roles. Melgård already carries top-flight experience in two countries and represents Norway at U23 level, marking her as a longer-term project with international pedigree.

What to watch: Watch how quickly Melgård integrates into Villa's midfield rotation and whether her attacking output translates to the WSL.
