What happened: San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday he had no clue what to expect as Brandon Aiyuk and agent Drew Rosenhaus arrived at the team facility. Asked what outcome he would like to see, Shanahan stated he could not care less. The wide receiver reported to team headquarters in an effort to secure his release.

Why it matters: Aiyuk's push for an exit is complicated by approximately $13 million in bonus forfeiture owed back to the team. The unresolved standoff comes with the 49ers leading the NFC West at 6-1 ahead of the league's Nov. 10 trade deadline.

By the numbers: San Francisco leads the NFC West with a 6-1 record through seven games in 2026. Aiyuk caught 25 passes for 374 yards in seven games last season (2024) with the 49ers.

What to watch: The NFL trade deadline arrives Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. ET, establishing the window for San Francisco to trade, release, or retain Aiyuk.
