What happened: The Athletics and Los Angeles Angels are set to meet again, with the Athletics holding a 2-0 lead in the series. First pitch is ahead and the matchup is still to be played. Oakland enters on a one-game winning streak after a stretch of close contests between the two clubs.

Why it matters: The standing matters for both sides of the AL race: the Athletics sit at 37-38 and are looking to build separation, while the Angels (30-46) are trying to steady a season that has slipped to a two-game skid. With the series already tilted, the result here shapes how much ground each club gives or gains.

What to watch: Watch the starting pitching matchup and whether the Angels can break their two-game slide, with the series standing on the line as the clubs continue the set.
