What happened: Francesca Slater, the COO of Sacramento’s LGBT Community Center, threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Athletics' Pride Night at Sutter Health Park on Thursday. The event highlighted the franchise's community partnership with local Sacramento organizations during the 2026 season.

Why it matters: While the Athletics fell 12-4 to the Pirates, Zack Gelof extended his hitting streak to 21 games, the longest in the majors this season. The Pride Night festivities underscored the team's integration into the Sacramento community as they play at their temporary home venue.

What to watch: The Athletics look to end their three-game slide as they begin their next home series on Friday.
