What happened: The Athletics’ first baseman will start for the American League in the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. The player-ballot selection moved into the starting lineup after the fan-elected choice withdrew.

Why it matters: The nod gives the Athletics a prominent place in the American League lineup. It also rewards one of the league’s most productive first-half hitters.

What to watch: Roster availability can still change before the July 14 game. The Athletics will monitor their representative through the final week before the break.
