What happened: The Colorado Avalanche summoned Taylor Makar, who re-signed on a two-year contract in June, from their American Hockey League affiliate prior to Friday night's home game in Denver.

Why it matters: Head coach Jared Bednar noted the promotion rounds out the fourth line alongside O'Connor and Kelly. Makar earned the early regular-season call-up after scoring during Colorado's September preseason slate.

What to watch: Pre-game line rushes in Denver will confirm Makar's deployment on the fourth unit for Friday night's opening puck drop.
