What happened: Barcelona have reached an agreement on a contract extension that runs through June 2028. The terms are settled under agreed conditions, and Fabrizio Romano signaled the deal is done with his confirmation on the club.

Why it matters: Securing the extension gives Barcelona cost certainty and continuity in a key position heading into the upcoming 2026 season. Closing it now removes the risk of an expiring contract and keeps the squad's core intact.

What to watch: Watch for the official club announcement formally confirming the terms and the signing.
