What happened: Johnson returned to Cincinnati in March for his third stint with the franchise. The 40-year-old appeared in all three preseason games.

Why it matters: The move narrows Cincinnati's quarterback room ahead of the 53-man roster deadline. Johnson's efficient August could make him an experienced option elsewhere.

By the numbers: Johnson completed 37 of 61 preseason passes for 396 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He averaged 6.5 yards per attempt.

What to watch: Cincinnati's final quarterback depth chart is the next roster marker. Johnson can pursue another NFL opportunity.
