What happened: The contract begins in 2026-27 and runs through 2027-28. Korchinski entered Saturday as a restricted free agent after spending most of the past two seasons in the AHL.

Why it matters: The term gives Korchinski two seasons to push for a full-time NHL role. Chicago keeps the 2022 No. 7 overall pick under contract with limited long-term risk.

By the numbers: Korchinski has 19 points, including six goals, in 103 NHL games. He was an AHL All-Star in each of the past two seasons and earned 2025 All-Star Game MVP honors.

What to watch: Korchinski's place on Chicago's 2026-27 blue line will come into focus during training camp.
