“I love you Canada “ ❤️🥹🇨🇦 Happy #CanadaDay from your Blue Jays! https://t.co/G6QuCbK9DW

What happened: The Toronto Blue Jays posted a Canada Day message thanking fans as the franchise marked the national holiday. The greeting arrived ahead of the club's scheduled home game, with the team sitting at 40-45 on the season.

Why it matters: Canada Day is a marquee date on the Blue Jays' calendar as the only Major League Baseball club based in Canada, giving the holiday added significance for the franchise and its national fan base. Toronto has dropped four of its last five and enters the day looking to steady a season that has slipped under .500.

By the numbers: Toronto sits 40-45 this season, averaging 4.1 runs scored and allowing 4.4. The Blue Jays and New York Mets are tied 1-1 in their current series, splitting the first two games: New York took the opener's most recent meeting 3-0 on June 30 after Toronto edged New York 2-1 on June 29.

What to watch: Watch how the Blue Jays perform in front of a Canada Day home crowd with the series against the Mets level at 1-1.
