What happened: Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has submitted paperwork to be reinstated to the NFL, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus. Aiyuk currently sits on the San Francisco 49ers' reserve/left squad list as he initiates his return to football.

Why it matters: The 49ers stand at 6-1 heading into the Nov. 10 trade deadline and are evaluating roster depth for the second half of the season. Aiyuk's potential return would supply San Francisco with an established perimeter receiver for their playoff push.

By the numbers: In his last active season (2024), Aiyuk recorded 25 receptions for 374 yards across seven games for the 49ers.

What to watch: The league and the 49ers will review the filing to determine his official roster status and eligibility to resume team activities.
