What happened: Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk submitted paperwork to be reinstated to the NFL, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. Aiyuk will report to San Francisco's training facility Friday afternoon. Rosenhaus stated that Aiyuk is healthy and ready to resume football activities.

Why it matters: His return injects an established target into a 6-1 San Francisco offense contending for the top playoff seed in the NFC. The 49ers placed him on the Reserve/Left Squad list in July following an extended contract standoff. Resolving his absence strengthens the wide receiver depth chart heading toward the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

By the numbers: Aiyuk caught 25 passes for 374 yards in 7 games last season (2024) with the 49ers.

What to watch: Aiyuk reports to team headquarters Friday afternoon for physical evaluations and onboarding. San Francisco will then determine a timeline to activate him from the reserve list.
