What happened: Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras was named MVP of the 2026 World Series, ESPN reported Thursday.

Why it matters: Contreras had been listed as an MVP favorite earlier in the series, and the award caps a postseason in which he anchored the Brewers' pitching staff behind the plate.

What to watch: Attention in Milwaukee turns to the offseason, where Contreras's name had surfaced in trade talk during the series.
