What happened: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Denver Broncos will face the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2026 season's first Monday Night Football game on Sept. 14. The site of the game has not yet been determined as the NFL finalizes its full schedule for release Thursday.

Why it matters: The matchup puts a Broncos team featuring quarterback Bo Nix opposite the AFC West-rival Chiefs in a marquee primetime opener. Week 1 division games on MNF carry early standings weight in one of the league's most competitive divisions and set the tone for both franchises' 2026 campaigns.

What to watch: Watch for the official site announcement and full schedule release Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN and NFL Network. Opening betting lines and travel logistics will follow once the host city is confirmed.
