Broncos to sign DB Sam Webb after Thursday tryout

Blake Cotton says he will be waived via injury settlement

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Jul 311 min read

What happened: Multiple reports have Webb joining Denver’s 90-man roster. Cotton said he is being waived with an injury settlement, while Ricardo Hallman also participated in Thursday’s tryout.

Why it matters: Webb gives the Broncos another veteran option in the secondary ahead of the 2026 season. Cotton’s expected departure would create the corresponding roster opening.

By the numbers: Webb recorded eight tackles and returned a fumble 47 yards for a touchdown in seven games with Cleveland last season. He also totaled 37 tackles across 28 games with Las Vegas in 2022 and 2024, plus one appearance for Carolina in 2023.

What to watch: Denver’s roster transaction and Cotton’s injury settlement are the next formal steps to monitor.
