What happened: Boston won at the NHL level while its Providence affiliate got a goal from its own net. The Boston roundup also noted New York losing its starting goaltender for the season.

Why it matters: Early-season points matter for Boston after an uneven start to the 2026-27 regular season. Providence production in net adds organizational depth context, while a season-long absence in New York reshapes the Eastern playoff race.

What to watch: Watch Boston's next regular-season game for lineup continuity and whether Providence sticks with its scoring goaltender.
