What happened: Bruno Lage has agreed to become the new head coach of Diriyah Club in Saudi Arabia. The former Benfica manager returns to the dugout after the club secured its first-ever promotion to the Saudi Pro League. Final terms are being settled as the club prepares for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

Why it matters: The appointment marks a significant statement of intent for the newly promoted Riyadh-based side. Backed by the Public Investment Fund, Diriyah Club is expected to be a major player in the summer transfer market as it looks to compete with established giants like Al Nassr and Al Hilal. Lage's experience in Europe is seen as crucial for the club's transition to the top flight.

What to watch: Expectations are high for a substantial summer recruitment drive to bolster the squad before the Pro League season begins.
