What happened: The Chicago Bulls are finalizing a deal to name Tiago Splitter as the franchise's new head coach. Splitter joins Chicago after serving as the interim head coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, where he guided the team to a playoff berth during the 2025-26 season.

Why it matters: The hire marks a significant shift for the Bulls following a 31-51 season and the recent overhaul of their front office. Splitter's success in Portland—achieving a 42-40 record and navigating the Play-In Tournament despite significant roster injuries—made him a top candidate for the rebuilding organization.

What to watch: Splitter will now be tasked with developing a young Chicago roster that traded away several veterans at the deadline as the team pivots toward a full rebuild.
