What happened: Byron Buxton addressed swirling trade-deadline speculation by reaffirming his commitment to the Minnesota Twins, telling reporters he loves the clubhouse and has no intention of leaving. "I ain't said nothing about leaving. Nor will I. I'm a Twin," he said, brushing off the rumors directly. The comments come as the Twins continue their road trip into Arizona.

Why it matters: Buxton's stance matters because he has surfaced repeatedly in deadline chatter, recently ranked the No. 2 trade candidate on a mid-season big board. A public commitment from a franchise cornerstone shifts the conversation around Minnesota's deadline posture and signals the front office may face internal and fan resistance to moving him. For a club hovering below .500, his words carry weight on both clubhouse culture and roster planning.

What to watch: Watch whether Buxton's public stand cools the Twins' willingness to entertain offers as the deadline approaches, and how the front office responds to his commitment.
