What happened: Arizona rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has now dealt with three different ankle injuries before the halfway point of his first NFL season, per ESPN's Field Yates. Adam Rapoport reported Love is headed to injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain. Head coach Mike LaFleur said Monday that Love suffered a new ankle injury in Sunday's 33-30 overtime win at Dallas.

Why it matters: Love was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame and is the centerpiece of Arizona's backfield. The Cardinals are 3-5 through eight games, and the injury leaves them without their first-round pick for the stretch ahead.

By the numbers: Love has 76 carries for 268 yards and 1 touchdown in 2026 through six games. Arizona is 3-5 in 2026 through eight games.

What to watch: LaFleur said he will have an update on Love later this week, and Arizona is expected to make the injured reserve move official.
