What happened: Johnny Cardoso starts for Atlético Madrid against Manchester United. Sergiño Dest starts for PSV against RB Leipzig, with Ricardo Pepi out injured. Alex Freeman is on the bench for Villarreal against Napoli.

Why it matters: Four Americans are involved across three league-phase fixtures on the same night. Two starting places give the group a visible role in high-stakes European ties. Bench and injury status leave Freeman and Pepi waiting for later rotation chances.

What to watch: Attention turns to minutes and results for Cardoso and Dest. Freeman's path to playing time and Pepi's return timeline are next to track.
